Wasn't sure whether to put this in Development or here, but there will be some feature ideas, so this area is good.
I've been using the site for almost six months now, on a more or less daily basis. Here some stuff I've come up with (maybe you've got some or all of these in the works already):
The look up database (or at least those specific tables) of, say, cast and crew, is a mess. It needs to be cleaned up, which I know is a tedious chore, but is necessary. And I don't mean blow them out. I'm still adding Primary Genre's and probably will be for some time to come.
A method to add cast, crew and studio, at least, to the database
Those looks ups are killing me, I enter all my stuff manually, and between the pop-up windows and hitting the database it sometimes feels like an eternity. Consider pull-down/scrolling lists for some values like Region, Video Formats, Crew Role, and perhaps primary Genre (you can always ask for for suggestions to compile a list of primary Genre choices, I'd say a dozen give or take would be about right, can go under Sub-Genres).
Content Released - you can't always get an actual mm/dd/rrrr, sometimes a year is all that's available. I know that setting it to 1/1/1900 leaves it blank, but it would be nice if there was some way for it to default to just the year. There'd be a lot fewer incorrect dates (wrong month/day,right year) and blanks too, probably. Same applies for the Released Date.
How about replacing Production Budget with the film's box office?
How about adding a tab to see available tags (yours/all) or add them to the Stats page?
As stated elsewhere, more search options would be useful.
You still can't add any number runtime larger than 999 in the add screen; you can add a four digit number in the edit screen though.
Stats like number of movies owned, number of discs owned (Titles? & Disc Count)
Move the ability to Rate from Reviews to Viewing (more people would rate and we'd get better results); you could always leave ratings in Reviews and weight them heavier than View ratings.
Change the Member Loaned To, to just Loaned to and stop linking to members (same with Viewing). Not everyone's going to be a member, that's all there is to it.
Yes, there's still plenty of issues, but the good news is that the site is functional, if only in a bare-bones kind of way. I use it and find it useful. Keep up the good work.

I just wanted to give this thread a bump because there are some great suggestions here. I especially agree with the following:
1. Working on the genres/sub-genres. A lot of improvements could be made here. A few examples... Personally, I'd like to see things like mystery/suspense and comedy/drama eliminated, because there are already separate genres for mystery, suspense, comedy, drama, etc. I think it gets too confusing when we include combinations of them. There's also no need for "comedies" (again, "comedy" is already a choice) and a few others that are currently available to choose from, while there are many useful genres/sub-genres I can think of that could be added. Establishing which of the choices could be selected as the primary genre, and which should only be considered sub-genres would be very helpful as well (mentioned above... a pull-down list or checkboxes like DVDSpot used to have would be great).
2. Cleaning up the cast/crew/studio database. I've seen many cases where an actor is listed twice, first with the correct spelling of his/her name, then a separate entry with an extra/missing letter. And I'd love to see a better method of filling in these sections. There are just too many steps involved in selecting and adding this info. Also mentioned above is the need for a way to add cast/crew/studios to the database. If giving users the ability the enter this info themselves would create too much of a mess, how about a sticky thread here in the forums where we could request the addition of people/studios?
3. Changing the "content release" field to year only. As stated by the OP, it's often difficult to find anything beyond the year of a movie's release, and requiring only the year would cut out a lot of incorrect information.
4. A separate titles and disc count. Of course there would need to be a field added for the number of titles per DVD, but I think it'd be a cool thing to have.
Well, there are plenty of other good suggestions in the first post, but these are the ones I'd most like to see implemented. I'm really enjoying the site so far, and I look forward to further improvements and hopefully more activity around here!
